Donation made on behalf of PeopleSoft Employees

Thanks to the people who attended and especially those who had to cancel at the last minute but still chose to donate there ticket fees, $1111.23 was donated to the North York Harvest Food Bank who collects, sorts and distributes food to a network of more than 60 community programs that provide food to approximately 25,000 children and adults a month.

We also would like to thank our "accountant" Frances Song for all of her hard work coordinating all of the funds and expenses, and our social convenor, Mark Myers who arranged the venue and negotiated the costs with the Crocodile Rock.

    Pictures are up !!!

So after much anticipation, we had a heck of a night with 86 people making it out.

We had one digital camera that we passed around and had turns taking pics with.  Good thing we work with computers because our photo skills REALLY SUCK !!!  Anyway, I digress...  ;-)

I've gone through the pics and only took out the red-eye where necessary. (Sorry Rick Black, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't fix yours and you'll see why).  Scott Sawyer's attempt to take a "crotch shot" was taken out because for some reason, nothing showed up !  Go figure???   Anyway, I digress again.

The pics are up and yes, I think a lot of people had a pretty darn good time.  It was great to see the smiles, the hugs, and Tom Maras and John Donahue finally relaxing enough to take their ties off.

We're still doing a tally on the costs and ticket money and will have a total of what we'll be donating to a local charity soon, so stay tuned.

We've had people mention that we should do this again, maybe in the summer.  Based on the excellent turnout, who knows?  If you want another "get together," your feedback would be appreciated.

I was talking to Jeff Taylor on the way out and he made an interesting comment, "Do you realize the amount of brain power in that room?  Think about it..."

He's right.  Think about the amount of experience, the skills in that room.  Sales, marketing, consulting, The Lab, NetOps, EdServices, management, HR, admin, and legal.  There was a lot of brain power there.  We had enough people and skills there to start up a brand new company.

It was nice to hear people reminisce about the past.  Pete Smith had it right, we had a good thing at PeopleSoft, and you don't really realize it until it's gone.

So, just to make people reminisce a little more, here are some of my thoughts of my time at PeopleSoft, and what I'll always remember....
    1. Foozeball at BCE place
    2. Being an "Account Mangler"
    3. Any conversation Xavier Diniz had on the speaker phone
    4. Bringing the dogs to work
    5. Friday afternoon beers at BCE
    6. Pleasanton California and the Blue Agave, The Hungry Hunter, Claude and Domenique's Bistro, The Hopyard... and the red eye flights back
    7. Practical jokes on Steve Burns, Mark Myers, and anyone else with a good sense of humour.  Man we did some great ones.
    8. Someone's April Fools joke on Steve Burns that didn't turn out to be so funny
    9. Smiles from reception, Anna, Judy, Cherry, Joy... and the others I can't remember.
    10. New Orleans Education and Government Conference
    11. Certain technical consultants in New Orleans
    12. Stephen and Randy both looking green behind the gills in New Orleans... right Kevin?
    13. Attempted mugging in New Orleans...  ok, so I don't miss that one, but I sure do remember it.
    14. Connect
    15. RUG's
    16. Steve Burns, while working from home, not realizing that his mute button was OFF while on a client conference call and saying "come here baby girl, come to daddy" as his baby daughter started to learn how to walk at his home office.  You should've seen the looks on everyone's faces in that meeting room....  Priceless.
    17. That version that we had to pull back...  ;-)
    18. The Barenaked Ladies at Connect.  Who else?  KC and the Sunshine Band, Huey Lewis and the News, Gladys Night and the Pip (yes I said Pip...  you had to be there.)
    19. Being amazed by the dancing skills of Linda "Dancing Queen" McMahon, Ian "Man Overboard" Plummer, and Pat Ladisa, who can do any dance you want including "The Carlton Dance"
    20. Working 40 straight hours with Tony Hood and Bill Haramis to run a client's proof of concept load test
    21. Bootcamp
    22. Bagels, bagels, and more bagels
    23. Marketing stuff... any marketing stuff
    24. How we made it through the big power failure and 9/11
    25. The layoff's of 1999
    26. The day Oracle finally won
    27. The Raving Dave's
    28. The friends I've made
    29. The friends I've lost contact with... where are you Allison Roby, Mike Fitzgerald, Leanne Carruthers...
    30. Training in England
    31. PeoplePeople, PeopleDollars, PeopleStore, Peoplebabies, Peoplewhatever
    32. That damn Nokia cellphone with that stupid analog adapter

    I could go on...

What are some of your memories?

I know that the people who put this little event together (Mark Myers, Pete Smith, Frances Song, and Marilyn Ridley) are quite happy and relieved that it was a success.  I'm not sure why there were any worries about the reunion considering the fact that everyone who's ever been a part of PeopleSoft has always had that work hard, play hard mentality.  Given that, the success of this reunion was pretty much a given.

So... to those people who made it out, it was great seeing you again.  To those that couldn't make it out, we missed you and hope to see you again sometime soon.

    TONIGHTS THE NIGHT !!!!

Yes, the night is almost here.

We've had over 90 people confirm that they are coming and more are still contacting us?  Will we break the 100 mark???  Who knows.

But, if you haven't let us know you're coming, please do so ASAP so we can confirm the food order.  Send an email to peoplesoftreunion@gmail.com as soon as you can to let us know, if you haven't already contact Frances, or if you haven't recieved an invitation.

For those of you who can't make the party due to work or other issues, we'll have a round for you and post some pictures here.

    Cheers !

    10 Days and Counting !

It is now less than 10 days to the event of the year, the 2007 PeopleSoft Toronto Reunion.  We really need your help to make this a great event. If you plan to attend, please send Frances your cheque today. That way, we can have an accurate count for the room and the food.

By the way, since the bar only charges us for who shows and how much we drink, any money left over from this event is being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. So, if last minute changes prevent you coming or you are driving and not drinking, be assured, your money will be going to a good cause.

    See you all soon…

    We've hit the 100 mark !!!!

Well, thanks to David Takenaka, we've had 100 people reply "Yes" they would like to attend our "not so little" reunion.  We've also had 40 people respond "Maybe".

We know that things will change and some people will have other commitments that will take them away from the festivities, so we'll have to wait and see the "actual" numbers.   BUT....

We also have 89 people who have not responded yet, 52 of which HAVE received the Evite but haven't responded.  If you're one of those people, please respond back ASAP so we can look at booking a venue.

A list of those who we have not been able to contact and who have not received the Evite are in a blog post below.  If you know where we can find them, please let us know.

    Cheers !

    Who will be #100?

The response to the reunion Evite has been tremendous.  We started out with a tick over 200, and people have been passing the word around enough to add another 50 more people to the list.

As of today, we're at 98 confirmed.  Who will be the 100th confirmation?

Still, a number of people have not accessed their evites because the invitations may have been sent to old email addresses, or spam filters have blocked the email.

Keep passing the word around.  I know we're missing people.

Just off the top of my head, I can think of Kerry Farrell, Tim from reception, Sue Bilton, all the people from marketing over the years, the gang from Ed Services, Tom Stergiades (Check picture below if you don't remember Tom.  Yep, another New Orleans pic.), etc, etc, ect.

We'll be taking the information from the polls and confirming a date and location soon, but definitely keep passing the word around so we can get accurate numbers.

And, I'm still looking for any pictures that anyone is willing to share.

    Cheers !

    Missing Friends. Need your help.

We need your help tracking down the following people.  This list is made up of people who have recieved the Evite, but for some reason have not opened it.

This may be a result of corporate filters blocking the invitation, incorrect email addresses on our part, or they've changed addresses.

Any help contacting them would be greatly appreciated.

    Pictures from the archives...

In the Photo Gallery, I've posted a few of pictures from the past that I had on hand.

If you have any pictures that I can add, or any from the "archives" of JD Edwards and Numetrix, please send them to me with information about where and when it was taken and who is in it if possible.

If I get enough, I'll try to do a little "display" for the reunion.

Also, if you have any reminiscences or stories to tell, send them to me and I'll post them here so that others can look back and remember as well...

    PeopleSoft Canada Reunion 2007

It is hard to believe that it was about this time 2 years ago that we all realized that Oracle was going to be successful in the attempt to buy PeopleSoft, and our amazing company and culture would be no longer.

What is not amazing is that in the past 2 years, many of us have kept in touch, stayed connected, and watched our friends and colleagues move on to great new careers, many remaining at Oracle, and many at new companies.  But, each and every PeopleSoft'er that we have met still say 3 things:

    1) It was a great place to work and a great culture to be a part of.
    2) We didn't realize at the time how good we had it.
    3) We miss the old gang.

We can't do anything about 1&2, but here is our plan to fix #3:  We are planning a PeopleSoft Reunion Party.  Very simply, we are going to arrange for a downtown Toronto drinking establishment to host us sometime in mid-January 2007.  We are targeting a Tuesday or Wednesday night, during the week of January 15th or 22nd.  It will be an opportunity for us to congregate after the holiday season rush is over and have a beer with our old friends.

We realize that some of you are either working out of town, or live in other parts of Canada and North America now, but we thought this invitation would be of interest, and if it was possible for you to make it, we'd love to see you.

Though we have over 200 email addresses on this invite, can you please contact us if you a) have not already received an "Evite" invitation in your email, or b) know of anyone that we have missed.

Questions can be sent via email to peoplesoftreunion@gmail.com.
